SAGE Contributions to CSUN

Donations to the CSUN Library began with annual gifts for its on-line database of the Encyclopedia Britannica until that service became free. Then SAGE switched its annual donation to the Library's Literary Resource Center database.

A yearly scholarship was established in 1989 to honor Sonja Marchand, who was instrumental in bringing SAGE into CSUN's College of Extended Learning.

The Sonja Marchand Scholarship in Gerontology awards $1,000 to a graduate student in that field.

In 1991 CSUN made one of its Computer labs available to Senior Computers, an auxiliary of SAGE. Senior Computers is a group of retired men and women who assist seniors who want to learn how to use computers.

Morrie Cutler, one of the founders of SAGE, heads this group. A small fee of $25 pays for class materials and supports two $500 scholarships awarded to deserving students enrolled in CSUN's College of Engineering and Computer Science. --Sam Sokolow
